I once heard someone say “never trust a person who doesn't like chocolate.” My personal spin on that would be, “never trust a creative who says awards aren't important.” No, they're not the end-all-be-all. And I don't produce work just to win awards. But after my team and I have given our hearts and souls to a project for months on end, a little peer recognition sure does feel nice.
In addition to being on the receiving end of many awards (a few of them are represented below), I’ve had the honor of judging the Webby Awards, Effie Awards, Anthem Awards, and CampaignUS Power of Purpose Awards. In 2023, I was also elected to the jury of The One Club’s Next Creative Leaders award, which was an incredible honor. Every judging experience is energizing and inspiring, and I often feel like I walk away with more than I’ve given.
Throughout my 20+ years as a creative advertising and marketing, I’ve worked on accounts nearly every vertical: CPG (consumer packaged goods), QSR (quick serve restaurant), retail, fast casual dining, sports, financial, medical, tourism, publishing...and yes, even Tier 3 Automotive (but that’s a story for another day).
In 2018, I left the consumer world to find a more meaningful place in nonprofit and impact marketing, and opened the Atlanta office of Media Cause, becoming the agency’s first creative lead at the same time. During my six-and-a-half years at Media Cause, I worked with so many incredible nonprofit organizations across a variety of issue spaces—from social justice to educational equity, and reproductive rights to environmental protection. While it would be impossible for me to showcase all of them, you can find a few of the most notable ones below.
